Lot 2506 JAPANESE NAVAL KATANA & ARMY KATANA.

1) Naval. Overall length is 35 7/8" with a 24" blade having a straight hamon and a silvered copper habaki. Plain iron tsuba with 1 large rayed seppa above and a large rayed seppa as well as a smaller seppa below. The nakago has an 3 character signature on one side with a Naval proof near the base. Nakago features two mekugi-ana. Darkened fuchi and kabuto-gane. Black wrap with gilded three cherry blossom menuki on each side. Green/brown tuska-ito. Natural wood finished saya with matching gunto. CONDITION: blade has a very good polish. Tsuka shows light wear. Saya has a crack near the ishizuke. 2) Army. A late 1944 shin-gunto with an overall length of 39" having a 27" blade and no discernible hamon and a gilded brass habaki. Plain iron tsuba with 1 seppa above and below. The nakago can not be viewed as we are not able to removed tsuka. Matching iron fuchi and kabuto-gane. Simulated white same with iron three cherry blossom menuki on each side. Light brown tuska-ito. Metal saya with light brown painted finish and iron gunto. CONDITION: blade has a fair polish. Tsuka and saya generally show light wear. (02-25380-6/BF). NON-GUN. $700-1,100.
